NHC: Lana could rapidly intensify over record-warm Gulf Stream waters

Hurricane specialists at the National Hurricane Center say Lana is moving over a corridor of sea-surface temperatures running 3 degrees above normal, raising the risk of rapid intensification before landfall.
The agency now lists a 65% chance the storm reaches Category 3 strength within 36 hours.
